About
Care & Material
BECAUSE GROWING GIRLS DESERVE MORE THAN COMFORT—THEY DESERVE CARE.
At Melissa, materials aren’t just components—they are commitments. Every fabric we use is carefully selected to protect sensitive skin, support healthy development, and reflect our responsibility to the planet. Whether you’re a parent looking for trusted garments for your child or a wholesale partner investing in quality, knowing what’s inside truly matters.
We combine softness with science, durability with responsibility. These are the primary materials we use—chosen for their safety, performance, and sustainability.
ORGANIC COTTON
Naturally grown without pesticides, GMOs, or harsh chemicals, organic cotton is breathable, hypoallergenic, and exceptionally gentle. It provides long-lasting softness and durability—perfect for first bras and everyday wear. Kinder to skin, and to the Earth.
TENCEL™ LYOCELL
Made from sustainably sourced eucalyptus wood, TENCEL™ is silky-smooth, biodegradable, and moisture-wicking. Produced in a closed-loop system that recycles water and solvents, it’s ideal for seamless undergarments and sensitive-skin essentials.
MODAL
Created from beech tree pulp, Modal offers a lightweight, luxurious feel. It's more absorbent than cotton, keeps its shape, and resists pilling—making it perfect for layering pieces, lightweight bras, and intimate wear that stays soft wash after wash.
RECYCLED POLYAMIDE (NYLON)
Repurposed from waste like fishing nets and industrial scraps, recycled polyamide delivers strength, stretch, and quick-drying performance—while reducing environmental impact. It’s the foundation of our activewear: breathable, resilient, and responsible.
MULBERRY SILK
Known as the world’s finest silk, mulberry silk is incredibly soft, naturally hypoallergenic, and breathable. Its smooth texture helps prevent skin irritation, making it a premium choice for delicate, skin-close garments that feel as gentle as they look.
SPANDEX (ELASTANE)
Blended in small amounts to provide flexibility and shape retention, certified spandex helps garments move with the body. It supports comfort and adaptability—especially important for growing girls who need freedom without restriction.
The majority of our fabrics are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning they are rigorously tested and verified to be free of over 100 harmful substances. This certification ensures that every Melissa garment is safe, trustworthy, and kind to the most sensitive skin.
Our materials are more than marketing—they’re a performance promise. From fewer returns to higher customer satisfaction, our choice of certified, durable fabrics helps our wholesale partners build trust and long-term brand value. When you stock Melissa, you offer care that sells.
Melissa is redefining girls’ underwear with a thoughtful blend of innovation, responsibility, and care. Because what touches a young body should always reflect the love and integrity that goes into making it.
From sourcing to sewing, we hold ourselves to high ethical and environmental standards. Our partners share our commitment to safe working conditions, fair labor practices, and responsible production. Melissa garments are made by people who are respected and paid fairly for their work.
At Melissa, what you see is only part of the story. Behind every product is a supply chain built on integrity—where every thread, finish, and partnership reflects our commitment to doing better, not just saying it.
We collaborate exclusively with suppliers who uphold the highest standards in ethical production and environmental responsibility. Many of our fabrics meet internationally recognized certifications, including OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, confirming they’re free from harmful chemicals and suitable for delicate, developing skin.
From seed to seam, we prioritize materials that are traceable, responsibly sourced, and third-party verified for their organic or recycled origins. This approach doesn’t just ensure quality—it builds confidence in every purchase.
For us, transparency isn’t a marketing claim—it’s a daily decision to earn your trust, garment by garment.
Our material philosophy is simple: Comfortable for her. Ethical for the planet. Built to last.
